Tsumugi - textile that represents traditional craft, which has a long history and tradition. Dyeing culture is ostensibly harmonious with nature and participates in a long historical dialogue with it.
A blend of red and purple embodies warmth and nobility. History dates back to Heian period, where it emerged as a significant color in attire and culture of nobility, especially in women’s garments, symbolizing aesthetic sensibilities of aristocracy. Due to high cost of dyes needed, it also symbolized power and wealth, remaining out of reach for common people.
