Kinzan in Japanese translates to "gold mountain". Kinzan Gold Mines on remote Sado Island produced gold for more than 4 centuries. They helped finance the Tokugawa shogunate, modernized during the Meiji Period, and finally shut down in 1989. In 2024, the mines and their surviving infrastructure were added to the UNESCO World Heritage List.

Isesaki kasuri is a type of woven fabric produced in Isesaki, Gunma prefecture, which was designated as a traditional craft in 1975. It has been admired for its texture since ancient times. This traditional method of hand dyeing and weaving produces vibrant artisanal textiles typically used in kimono and noren curtains.
