CHIJIMI textile is woven using wefts, forming a resistant ply, and its uneven surface called Shibo. Bumpy texture is created after unwinding tightly twisted yarns. It encourages the evaporation of sweat and dries quickly.
TACHIWAKU pattern resembles rising steam. In the Heian period, the pattern required advanced fabric making techniques and it was exclusively used on clothes for the upper class.
